Truly, truly, I say to you, if any ask for something from the Father,
And ask in my name, he will give it to you.



I in truth would roses gather,
Even though the /now/ thorns should prick me.
For of this I'm confident:
My petition and my prayer
God most sure to heart is taking,
For this me his word hath pledged.

And what the ever gracious God (1.)
In his own word hath promised us,
And sworn on his name's honor,
This keeps and gives he verily.
His help lift us to angel-choirs
Through Jesus Christ, Lord. Amen!

God doth not act as doth the world,
Which much doth pledge and little keep;
For what he pledgeth must be granted,
That we thereby may his true will and pleasure witness.

God's help is sure;
Although that help may sometimes tarry,
It will e'en still not be abolished.
For God's own word declareth this:
God's help is sure!

Our hope awaits the proper time
For what God's word doth promise;
When that should happen to our joy
Gods sets no certain moment.
He knows well when it best shall be
And treats us not with cruel guile;
For this we ought to trust him.
